Runner’s Knee (Patellofemoral Pain)
Runner’s knee, or patellofemoral pain syndrome, is a common condition causing pain around or behind the kneecap. It is frequently aggravated by running, stairs, squatting, or prolonged sitting.
At The Physio Group, we assess the whole lower limb to understand why excessive stress is being placed on the knee joint. Contributing factors often include hip weakness, reduced movement control, training load changes, or footwear issues.
Treatment focuses on correcting movement patterns and improving strength rather than simply resting the knee. Rehabilitation may include targeted strengthening exercises, mobility work, and gradual return-to-running guidance.
Following our Reduce, Restore, Return pathway, we aim to reduce irritation, restore efficient movement, and help runners and active individuals return to pain-free training.
