Sciatica
Sciatica refers to pain caused by irritation or compression of the sciatic nerve, typically resulting in symptoms travelling from the lower back into the buttock, leg, or foot. At The Physio Group, we provide expert assessment and physiotherapy treatment for sciatica across all clinic locations.
Symptoms may include sharp or burning pain, pins and needles, numbness, or weakness in the leg. Sciatica is often linked to disc irritation, joint stiffness, or muscle tightness placing pressure on the nerve. Sitting, bending, or prolonged positions may aggravate symptoms.
Accurate diagnosis is essential, as not all leg pain is true sciatica. Our physiotherapists perform a detailed clinical assessment to identify the exact source of nerve irritation and rule out more serious causes.
Treatment focuses on relieving nerve irritation through targeted manual therapy, guided mobility work, and progressive rehabilitation exercises. Education and movement strategies are also provided to reduce flare-ups.
Through our Reduce, Restore, Return approach, we aim to settle nerve pain, restore normal movement, and support a safe return to everyday activity and sport.
